The stress increase due to loading at the center of clay layer 10 = 750 lb/ft?. Assume SF =1.8 (a) Find the qal of the stone column. If the all of the stone columns is less than the applied, what is your suggestions? (b) Find the settlement of the foundation, Sf (c) If it is required to reduce the settlement of the foundation to half by using stone column, what is the proposed diameter of stone column that can take the load safely?
