1. Researchers at a school board have developed models to predict population changes in the two areas they 360 (t+6) 30t service. The models are A(t) = for area A and B(t)= for area B, where the population is t+1 measured in thousands and t is the time, in years, since 2007. For these models, the value of t must be greater than or equal to zero. A. Graph each population function, using the steps for graphing rational functions (x and y intercepts, vertical asymptotes, holes, horizontal asymptotes, behaviour around vertical asymptotes). B. State the intervals of increase or decrease for each function. Remember that the value of t cannot be negative. C. Determine which area will have the greatest population in 2010. D. Determine the time intervals over which the population of area A is greater than the population of area B. Remember that the value of t cannot be negative. E. What happens to the population of area A after a long period of time (when t is very large)? What happens to the population of area B?
