The consumer is a 32 year old, single, Non-Hispanic, AfricanAmerican male who was referred by his primary care physician due torecurrent gastrointestinal distress without physical cause. Romaincompleted an upper and lower GI study, has been on antacidmedications, ulcers were ruled out and a GI specialist wasconsulted without any positive finding. Roman reported a history ofalcohol and marijuana use. He reported he has been in recovery forthe last 3 years. He reported persistently and intensely that hedoes not feel he could have abused his body without any long termnegative effects. He describes his symptoms as tightness in hischest, a gurgling sound in his stomach and a slight feeling ofnausea. He stated these sensations are worse when he is in highplaces, have to cross bridges or is driving on highways.
