Anticoagulin is a blood thinning medication used to prevent theformation of blood clots. People vary in their sensitivity toanticoagulin. People who are anticoagulin sensitive, require alower dose of medication than those who are anticoagulinresistant.
It’s important to get the dose of anticoagulin right because toomuch can cause excessive bleeding, while too little may not beeffective in preventing blood clots.
Using GWAS a SNP (called rs9911111; see figure) was found thatis associated with anticoagulin sensitivity. In the SNP region, individuals can have either a T base pair or an G base pair. The TSNP allele is wildtype, whereas the G variant affectsthe ACMS1 gene and a person’s sensitivity toanticoagulin.
Choose the option (only one) below that most likely describesthe changes caused by the G variant relative to the wild type.Explain your answer.
