Question 22 (10 points) You have been given the exciting task of characterizing a newly discovered organism. An aspect of this involves looking at a large number of cells through a microscope so as to determine whether it is a prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell. And if it is a eukaryotic cell whether it is a plant or animal cell. As you look through the microscope you see the following structural features: a. Plasma membrane, nucleus, mitochondria, a centrosome, a flagellum, cytoskeleton, ribosomes, and no cell wall. Given this list answer the following questions: a. What type of cell are you observing (plant, animal, or prokaryote)? b. Which aspect of the data convince you of your answer? In other words what structural features are unique to that cell type? c. What is the function of these unique structural features? d. Are the other structural features (the ones that aren't unique) found in the other two types of cells you did not choose?
