The human resources department would like to consolidate the current set of retirement plan options offered to specific employee pay groups into a single plan for all pay groups. A sample of 585 employees from different pay groups (salaried, hourly, or piecework) was asked which of the three retirement plans they preferred (A, B, or C). The results are shown in the table below and can be found in the sheet called "Retirement plans": Preferred retirement plan A B C Employee Pay Group Salaried Hourly 78 121 51 98 95 57 Piecework 37 30 18 The human resources department is hoping to conclude that the retirement plan preference is independent of pay group (no relationship between the two variables), then when they consolidate to one retirement plan, they can avoid the impression that the preferred plan may favour a particular group. Is there a relationship between preferred retirement plan and employee pay group? Assume that a relationship is indicated by differences in percentages of at least 3 %. Present any evidence that you used to draw your conclusion. 4 sentences max.
