A layer of silty soil 5 m thick lies on top of a layer of clay. Level water table is at a depth of 4m from the ground surface. The following data
are available for silt and clay strata:
Silt layer: Dio = 0.018 mm, e = 0.7, and G=2.7
Clay layer: e-0.8 mm. G= 2.75
Is required:
(a) Capillarity height he
b) Capillary pressure:
(c) Effective stress distribution with depth (calculate «' in GL, GWT. basis
of the silt layer, and at a depth of 6m below GL).
(d) Get @' to a depth of 2m under GL
he e-D₂0 GL 00 h = 4 m h=1m h=m considerar C = 0,5 (cm); Capillary fringe H = 6 m Clay Capillary saturated zone Silty layer GWT GL uc = n. hcyw 5m
