A pipe network for water distribution, shown in schematic below, consists of three pipes P-1, P-2, P-3 and requires a total flowrate of 250 l/s. The lengths of the pipes are given as L₁=2000 m, L₂=1500 m, L3-2000 m. The roughness coefficient is e=0.15 mm for all pipes. You are asked to do the following: a) Select initial guesses for the three pipe flowrates keeping in mind that continuity must be satisfied at the nodes. b) Select pipe diameters (pipe diameters are available only in integer multiples of 10 mm). c) Using all pertinent information calculate the friction factors and resistance coefficients (do not update these numbers after each iteration). d) Using the Hardy-Cross method calculate manually the flowrate in each of the three pipes. Water is flowing in all pipes. Perform only 2 iterations. e) Node A has hydraulic head of 50 m and elevation of 40 m. If node B has elevation of 70 m, calculate the pressure at that node. Ignore minor losses. 90 lt/s P-3 C A P-2 P-1 B 250 lt/s 160 It/s
