The gas phase decomposition of dimethyl ether at 500 °C CH3OCH3(g)CH₂(g) + H₂(g) + CO(g) is first order in CH3OCH3 with a rate constant of 4.00x10-4s¹. If the initial concentration of CH3OCH3 is 9.48×10-2 M, the concentration of CH3OCH3 will be 2.38x10-2 M after s have passed.
The conversion of methyl isonitrile to acetonitrile in the gas phase at 250 °C CH3NC(9) CH3CN (g) is first order in CH₂NC. During one experiment it was found that when the initial concentration of CH3NC was 0.109 M, the concentration of CH3NC dropped to 2.30x10-2 M after 389s had passed. Based on this experiment, the rate constant for the reaction is ]s-¹.
