When talking about influences in music, Beethoven is often notedas one the most famous composers. His nine symphonies are iconicand played in many bands around the world. But why did this famouscomposer only write nine pieces of music while many others, likeMozart, wrote over forty pieces? Well there are two mainreasons. The first one being the fact that he was deaf. Now no oneknows why he lost his hearing but he lost it around the time hestart writing the music. Writing a whole symphony is already apretty difficult task but not being able to hear makes itexponentially more difficult. He was not able to check harmoniesand pitches on a piano. He had to do it all by memory. He had toknow which notes made a harmonious sound and which ones made adissonance sound. This is part of why he only wrote ninesymphonies. The second reason why he only wrote nine pieces isbecause of the quality of his work. Now do not get me wrong, theseother composers wrote amazing music and deserve to be credited withsome amazing songs. But Beethoven’s were much longer and moresophisticated then the others. He took much more effort into makinghis songs intense and engaging. So it took him much longer tocreate his nine symphonies, and that is why they are some of thebest ones ever created.
