Principle of reinforced/prestressed concrete
A 550 mm square interior column carries a service dead load of780 KN and a service live load of 650 KN. A rectangular footing isrequired to carry the column loads such that the length of the longside must be equal to twice the width of the short side. Assumebase of the footing is 1.5 m below the ground surface. Allowablebearing pressure of soil is 180 kPa. f'c = 27.6 MPa, and fy = 415MPa, weight of soil is 15.5 kN/cu.m and that of concrete is 23.5kN/cu.m. Assume total depth of 700 mm.
