Construction of a barrage on Sg. Johor for water supply enhancement is expected to cause back water and increase the flood potential in the upstream. The water level before and after the barrage construction for various peak flow values and their corresponding return periods are given in TABLE (i). The incremental damages above the first-floor elevation and the property value are given in TABLE (ii). The percentage of area affected by flood (above the first-floor elevation) is given by the following equation; p=2+3H-0.3H² where p is the percentage of flooded area and H is elevation above the first floor.
