QUESTION 1 A three-phase, 50 Hz, 500-kV, lossless transmission line is 390 km long. The line inductance is 0.85 mH/km per phase and its capacitance is 0.0115 µF/km per phase. Answer the following questions. a) Determine the phase constant and surge impedance. b) By using exact model of lossless transmission line, determine the sending end line-to-line voltage and current if the load at receiving end is rated at 600 MW, 0.9 power factor lagging at 90 percent of rated voltage. c) Repeat question (b) by using equivalent pi-model of lossless transmission line. d) Between exact model and equivalent pi-model, which one is more accurate? Justify your answer through comparison between the answers found in (b) and (c). (20 marks)
