AYK Week 2 Homework Due in 5 hours 0/3 answered AYK 2.1 (12 points) "Distance traveled" and "Displacement" are two words that might be confused with each other. In physics, they have very different meanings. To describe the "distance traveled" by an object, imagine tying a string to a starting point and then allowing the string to fall as the object moves. The string records the exact path of the object. When the object reaches the ending point, the string is cut and the length of the string is measured. The length of that string is the "distance traveled" by that object. You have learned that displacement is a vector that points from the starting point to the ending point. A) Is "distance traveled" a scalar or vector? Explain why you think so. B) Write a short story (3 sentences or less) about an object that moves for a period of time that results in the norm of its displacement vector that is smaller than its "distance traveled". Draw a diagram to support your story. C) Write a short story (3 sentences or less) about an object that moves for a period of time that results in zero displacement but a "distance traveled" that is not zero. Draw a diagram to support your story. D) Write a short story (3 sentences or less) about an object that moves for a period of time that results in the norm of its displacement vector being equal to its "distance traveled". Draw a diagram to support your story.
