(b) Figure Q3 shows a circuit has been designed to crush a car body into bale size using a 150 mm diameter hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder is to extend 2.5 m during a period of 10 s. The time between crushing strokes is 5 min. The following accumulator gas absolute pressure are given: pi= gas pre-charge pressure 80 bars abs P2= gas charge pressure when pump is turned on = 200 bars abs = pressure relief valve setting p3= minimum pressure required to actuate load = 120 bars abs Determine: (i) the required size of the accumulator. (ii) the pump hydraulic power in kW and the flow requirements with and without an accumulator. (7 marks)
