QUESTION 1 [25 MARKS] The following equation is to solve a simple Economic Dispatch (ED) problem: NG Σai + b₂Pai + ciP²i i=1 where PTG is the total power output of generators and ai, bi and ci denote the cost coefficients of respected generator PGi. The characteristic of two generators are as follows: Unit 1: Coal-fired steam unit: FCost (PTG) Max output = 650 MW Min output = 150 MW Input-output curve: H₁ Unit 2: Oil-fired steam unit Max output = 400 MW Min output = 100 MW Input-output curve: H₂ O O Given the initial value of = MBtu h (a) Calculate the economic operation point for these two units When delivering a total 500 MW. P1 = 600 MW MBtu h Price of coal = 1.25 RM/MBtu and oil = 1.1 RM/MBtu. P2= 400 MW |=467.5+6.6P₁ +0.0013017P,² |=310.0+7.85P₂ +0.00194P2 (b) How much of the cost saving if the load is equally assigned to each generator? [25 Marks] [CO1, PO3, C4]
