Aqueous solutions of sodium carbonate (Na 2CO 3) and potassiumsulfide (K 2S) are mixed. What is the net ionic equation for thereaction? See the solubility table below. Solubility Rules forIonic Compounds_01_10_12.gif
2 Na+ (aq) + S2- (aq) ---> Na2S (s)
Na+ (aq) + S- (aq) ---> NaS (s)
2 K+ (aq) + CO3 2- (aq) ---> K2CO3 (s)
2 K+ (aq) + S2- (aq) ---> K2S (s)
There is no net ionic equation because a chemical reaction doesnot occur.
