1. Describe your primary interests in social work. What specific client populations and/or work settings appeal to you? My primary interest lies in helping the physically disabled children, by introducing various therapies and diets for them at an early age, my population will include children in the age of 3-10. 2. In one page, describe a program related to your areas of interest that is designed to improve clients' ability to cope with the challenges in their lives. Describe the clinical intervention or program. All of your answers below should be linked directly to this description. With the variation in lifestyles and increasing pollution, the expectant mother and her baby are constantly at the high risk of being affected by certain problems, when these issues grow grave they may in turn result in some kind of deformity like low hearing, lesser vision or difficulty walking, our modern technology addresses few of them while our ancient texts like chakra Samhita, Vedas and Ayurveda has cure for them, will admit 20 children with prevailing health problems and give them a course based on those past remedies, along with prescribed medication after 3 years the results will be analyzed. (Do note that ayurvedic methods can be implemented alongside the usual medication). 3. Describe two outcome measures (dependent variables) that would be measured using nominal-level data. a. What measure(s) of central tendency would you use to analyze these variables? Why? Mean: It will give on an average which gender of child is more likely to develop deformities. b. What measure(s) of dispersion, if any, would you use to analyze these variables? Why? No dispersion as such required.
a. 4. Describe two outcome measures (dependent variables) that would be measured using ordinal-level data. What measure(s) of central tendency would you use to analyze these variables? Why? After program children will be asked to give rating on how they feel about their health after going through the program, the average rating will tell whether the program was towards effective side. b. What measure(s) of dispersion, if any, would you use to analyze these variables? Why? The range will further tell us what we need to improve or maintain in our program. 5. Describe two outcome measures (dependent variables) that would be measured using interval-level data. Prior admitting to the course the hearing, vision, reflex etc activities of children would be noted down same does after the course that would be of form (Mean +/- std deviation) a. What measure(s) of central tendency would you use to analyze these variables? Why? Here mean will tell us the actual avg improvement. b. What measure(s) of dispersion if any, would you use to analyze these variables? Why? The value of standard deviation will authenticate the mean. a. 6. Describe two outcome measures (dependent variables) that would be measured using ratio-level data. What measure(s) of central tendency would you use to analyze these variables? Why? Here both mode and mean can be utilized, the mode will tell us which of the treatment found to be most working one, i.e., out of the patients of eye ear and legs which got maximum benefit. While ratio would be the comparison of degree of deformity prior and after admission. b. What measure(s) of dispersion, if any, would you use to analyze these variables? Why? Dispersion: Not applicable
7. Describe a new outcome variable that would be measured at the interval or ratio level (scaled data). a. Create a scale that measures your outcome variable. Show the scale and its points. b. Suppose you are comparing two sub-groups of clients on this one variable (scale) that differ on a demographic variable. For example, you might compare clients of color and those who are not; male and female clients; or clients with a history of substance use disorder or not. Use your imagination when you identify the two sub-groups. There should be a good reason to compare these two sub- groups. c. What two sub-groups are you comparing? Why might this be important to do? d. Suppose group 1 has a much smaller mean on this variable than group 2, but a much larger standard deviation than group 2. i. Create two graphs that show these results (one for group 1 and one for group 2). ii. Summarize what these results and graphs mean. e. Now suppose that group 1 has a much larger mean on this variable than group 2, but a much smaller standard deviation than group 2. i. Create two graphs that show these results (one for group 1 and one for group 2). ii. Summarize what these results and graphs mean. f. Now suppose that group 1 and group 2 have very similar means, but group 1 has a much smaller standard deviation than group 2. i. Create two graphs that show these results (one for group 1 and one for group 2). ii. Summarize what these results and graphs mean. 8. Suppose you converted this scaled data into four rank-ordered sub-groups. a. Show me the cut-off criteria you would use for the four sub-groups. b. What level of measurement would you use for this new variable? Why? c. What measure of central tendency would you use for this new variable? Why? d. Does it make sense to use a measure of dispersion on this new variable? Why or why not?
