A researcher was interested in whether age is related to need
for cognition. Need for cognition refers to the degree to
which an individual enjoys thinking, solving difficult problems,
and engaging intellectually (higher scores indicate a higher need
for cognition). The researcher collected data on adults of all ages
and divided them into three age groups (1 = younger adults; 2 =
middle-aged adults; and 3 = older adults).
Are there differences in need for cognition among the age
groups?
