Question 2 Analyze the part shown below which will be turned in three machining steps. It is a circular shaft has to be machined in a lathe by straight turning operation in three steps as shown below: In the first step, for length of 100 mm, the diameter of the shaft will be reduced to 50 mm from 100 mm In the second step, for the length of 75 mm, again the diameter will be reduced from 50 mm to 30 mm In the third step, for the length of 50 mm, again the diameter will be reduced from 30 mm to 20 mm. 0100 050 030 020 25 25 50 All dimensions are in mm

Note: Select material and cutting speed/velocity from the table given below ID NUMBER ENDS MATERIAL CUTTING SPEED WITH M/MIN 1,3,5,8 BRASS 90 2,4,6 ALUMINIUM 75 7,9,0 MILDSTEEL 30 Feed of the single point cutting tool is 0.7mm/rev and depth of cut can be taken as 2.5 mm per pass Asses the details given above and evaluate the total machining time to finish this part excluding setup time and other allowances.
