A rod made of an aluminum section that is 35 cm long and acopper section that is 50 cm long is used to poke a fire. Bothsections have cross-sectional area of 4.00 cm2. The aluminum end ismaintained at 120°C and the copper end has a constant temperatureof 20°C. The thermal conductivity of aluminum is 205 W/m∙K and thethermal conductivity if copper is 385 W/m∙K
a) Find the temperature at the aluminum-copper junction in therod.b) Find the rate of heat flow through the rod.c) Now assume both sections of the rod have the same length. Willthe temperature at the junction be greater or less than70°C. Explain.
Express your answer with appropriate units.
