(38 points total) An archer shoots an arrow toward a 300 g target that is sliding towards her at a speed of 2.25 m/s on a slippery surface. The 22.5 g arrow is shot with a speed of 38.5 m/s and passes through the target. The target ends up moving in the same direction as the arrow (opposite to the direction the target moved initially) with a speed of 0.3 m/s. a) Draw a diagram of the situation. Include initial and final instants to be used in your calculations, and label the +x and +y directions. (6 points) b) What is the momentum of the arrow before it hits the target (include the sign)? (8 points) c) What is the momentum of the target before it is hit by the arrow (include the sign)? (8 points) d) What is the speed of the arrow after passing through the target? (8 points) e) What was the kinetic energy of the arrow before it hits the target? (8 points)
