Question 1 (Total of 10 marks) a. Figure 1.1 Figure 1.2 of rotor Edge c A A plane's propeller turns with an initial angular speed of wo= 6.50 rev/s and angular acceleration of a = 1.30 rev/s². Points A and B are two different positions on the propeller's blade at a given time as depicted in Figure 1.1. Point A is 3.00 m from the centre of the propeller while point B is 6.70 m from the centre of the propeller. Based on this information, find the following: (i) the tangential speed of the propeller at point A when = 6.50 rev/s. (ii) the angular speed of the propeller at point B after 2 minutes. 0.24 m 41414 3.00 m 6.70 m Propeller Centrifuge rotor Axis of rotation (3 x 1 mark) (3 x ½ mark) b. Refer to Figure 1.2. A centrifuge rotor is accelerated from rest to 7,000 rpm in 55.0 seconds. Based on this information, determine the following: (i) What is the rotor's average angular acceleration? (2 x ½ mark) (ii) Through how many revolutions has the centrifuge rotor turned during its acceleration period, assuming constant angular acceleration? (2x% mark) (iii) At 7,000 rpm, if it is known that the distance from the rotor's centre (as axis of rotation or AOR) to its edge is 0.24 m, what is the tangential velocity at the edge of the rotor? (2 x ½ mark)
