Experiment 5: Alice is standing in a field. 00 00 * 00 00 Bob is standing on a railway cart (with a light clock) moving to the right with a constant velocity. Question 5a: If both observers agree that Bob's clock starts the moment that Bob is inline with Alice, consider the distance between Bob and Alice (as measured by Alice) in the time it takes for Bob's clock to "tick" once. Compare this to the distance between Bob and Alice (as measured by Bob) in the time it takes for Bob's clock to tick once. In Bob's frame, he (and therefore his light clock) are stationary, whereas Alice (and therefore her light clock) are moving to the right with a constant velocity. Question 5b: If both observers agree that Bob's clock starts the moment that Bob is inline with Alice, consider the distance between Bob and Alice (as measured by Alice) in the time it takes for Alice's clock to "tick" once. Compare this to the distance between Bob and Alice (as measured by Bob) in the time it takes for Alice's clock to tick once. Question 5c: Who is correct Alice or Bob?
