CALCULATIONS/POST-LAB QUESTIONS As part of your report, perform the following calculations/answer the following questions. 1. The density of 5.0 % (m/m) vinegar is 1.01 g/ml. a) Find the initial molarity/molar concentration of acetic acid in vinegar. b) Using the initial molarity and the measured pH, determine the K, of acetic acid. 2. The density of 5.0% (m/m) ammonia is 0.98g/ml. a) Find the initial molarity/molar concentration of ammonia in household ammonia. b) Using the initial molarity and the measured pH, determine the K, of ammonia. 3. Calculate the % hydrolysis of 1.0 M NaC₂H₂O₂ and of 1.0 M Na₂CO3 from your experimental values of the pH for these solutions. 4. Calculate the theoretical % hydrolysis of 1.0 M NaC₂H30₂ and of 1.0 M Na₂CO3 from their initial concentrations and K, values (and Kw). 5. Compare the theoretical % hydrolysis of NaC₂H₂O₂ and Na₂CO3. How can you explain the degree of hydrolysis in terms of the strength of their conjugate acids? REPORT For your report, include the standard lab report sections (purpose, procedure, data table, etc.). In your conclusion, you should explain any deviations from the predicted/theoretical pH values.
