If there was an investigatoin of the importance of firsttrimester glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels in pregnant ladiesand their association with risk of developing gestational diabetes.Diagnosis of gestational diabetes was made on the bases of a 75goral glucose tolerance test performed between 24 and 28 weeks ofgestation. Using existing medical records from the department ofobstetrics and gynecology to recreate follow up, investigatorscompared the proportion of women who later developed gestationaldiabetes according to their first trimester HbA1c values.Conclusion: Women with elevated first trimester HbA1c levels weremore likely to develop gestational diabetes.
