Q11. In order to determine the order of three genes on thebacterial chromosome a co-transduction experiment using the phageP1 was performed. An E. coli donor strain with the genotype arg+ser+ ampR (NO ORDER IMPLIED) was infected with P1 transducing phageand the resulting lysate was used to infect a recipient E. colistrain with the genotype arg- ser- ampS. After infection the cellswere plated either on -arg medium to detect arg+ transductantswhich were then assayed for the ability to grow on -ser medium oron medium containing ampicillin. Alternatively the infected cellswere plated on - ser medium to select ser+ transductants which werethen assayed for growth on -arg medium and medium containingampicillin. The following data were obtained: of arg+transductants,5% were ser+ and 30% were ampR of ser+ transductants, 0% werearg+and 3% were ampR Based on these results, what is the order ofthese three genes?
A. ser-arg-amp
B. amp-ser-arg
C. arg-amp-ser
C IS CORRECT. PLEASE PROVIDE EXPLANATION OF WHY C IS CORRECT.THANK YOU
