Question 1 Skudai BTS Fan Club rented an office and plans to install multi head split air conditioners (MHAC system) that is known to be more energy saving than the ducted air conditioner. The MHAC system will save an estimated RM32,000 per year over a six-year period. A refurbished MHAC system of Dynamite brand can be purchased and installed for RM110,000 with annual service cost of RM2,500. The market value of the system at the end of the 6 years will be RM10,000. Based on MARR of 15% per year and if the electricity cost is RM0.25 per kWh, (a) Draw and label a complete cash flow diagram of the 6-year MHAC system. (b) Determine the present worth of the MHAC system. (c) If the MHAC system only needs to be serviced in year 2 and year 4 (with the same cost of RM2,500 each year), calculate the annual energy saving in kilowatt-hours (kWh) if the PW of the system is equal as (b).
