When the job was 90% complete, Paul got a better paying job at another site and left Anna's house unfinished. In these circumstances: Paul was in breach of contract, and therefore Anna is not required to pay Paul any money for the work done, and she would have an action against Paul for damages Anna would not be able to recover damages, but would have no obligation to pay Paul for any of the work he had done Anna would likely have to pay Paul for the work that was done, on a quantum meruit basis, and she may also have a claim for damages relating to the cost to have the work completed by someone else
