Assignment Description
MajEnt Earth Tech is a company that focuses on harnessing technology to make the world a better place. It currently is seeking proposals from software companies for the design and implementation of a system that would allow students to do the following for a small membership fee.
 Contribute old textbooks and class materials
 Obtain used textbooks and class materials
Arwin Alexander, the lead contact at MajEnt for this project, has heard that there are different project development strategies. In particular, she is curious to learn more about the traditional waterfall approach and a newer agile approach called scrum that is getting a lot of praise. In speaking with colleagues, Arwin hears that your company has produced several successful products using the scrum agile development method.
She has invited you to come to MajEnt’s Dalas office and to give a presentation on how these two approaches (waterfall and agile) are used to develop new software engineering
product. Please prepare a slide presentation covering the topics below and a handout of keywords to accompany your presentation.
NOTE: You don't have to be exhaustive with the keywords. I'm not looking for specific ones in the handout. Just create something in an easy to read format with the new concepts you feel are most pertinent for a client who knows nothing about systems development.
Topics to Cover when you prepare your assignment
 Define software engineering and give an example.
 Present the waterfall approach. Include a diagram* showing the flow of this
development method and discuss its advantages and disadvantages.
 Present the scrum agile approach.
o Include the four main tenets from the Manifesto for Agile Software Development (Links to an external site.)
o Include a diagram* showing the flow of this development method and discuss its advantages and disadvantages.
o Create an organizational chart similar to the one below (made using Visio) that shows the relationship between the product owner and all scrum team members. Feel free to change the design, so it better illustrates the relationships between members, make up names for your company’s employees, and include pictures. If using Visio, refer to the Visio Guidance (Links to an external site.) resource for assistance. If you use a different tool (e.g. PowerPoint, Gliffy (Links to an external site.), etc.) to create your organizational chart, please indicate what you used.
o Discuss the product and sprint backlogs.
o Discuss the meetings (e.g. sprint planning, daily scrum, sprint review, sprint
retrospective, and backlog refinement).
