Automobiles manufactured by the Efficiency Company have beenaveraging 43 miles per gallon of gasoline in highway driving. It isbelieved that its new automobiles average more than 43 miles pergallon. An independent testing service road-tested 36 of theautomobiles. The sample showed an average of 44.8 miles per gallonwith a standard deviation of 1 4 miles per gallon.
With a 0.05 level of significance using the critical valueapproach, test to determine whether or not the newautomobiles actually do average more than 43 miles per gallon.
