I performed a lab where I prepared a grignard reagent by firstmixing 9.0 ml of bromobenzene in 50ml anhydrous diethyl ether, which was then added to 2.0g of magnesium turnings and the reactionwas allowed to take place. I then used this reagent to maketriphenylmethanol by reaction of the grignard with methyl benzoate(5.0ml in 15ml anhydrous ether). I need to calculate thetheoretical yield of triphenylmethanol. If i recovered 4.929g ofthe product, what is the percent yield?
