Determine the mass and diameter of Earth , and then from the universal gravitational law , derive an equation for the weight of a person having a mass m . Do the same analysis to derive an equation for the weight of a person on the moon . From the two equations determine the ratio of weight on the moon to the weight on Earth . Fit an empirical equation .
