The COVID vaccine roll out has not gone exactly as expected according to the CDC. While many people have gotten vaccinated and have even received one or even two boosters, there are still some holdouts. People have COVID vaccine fatigue and even those who support vaccine mandates have suggested that there not be a mandate any longer. 1) Explain Kant's deontological argument and apply it to the growing number of anti- vaxxers who feel like their rights are being violated by the efforts of the federal government to mandate mask wearing and require vaccinations for employment. Is this the proper use of this ethical theory? Are anti-vaxxers correct in their understanding of the COVID roll out effort? How can you convince them otherwise? Use real-life examples from the CDC, news/media to support your answer and make sure your sources for facts are from reputable sources. 2) Explain the Utilitarian Consequentialist ethical theory and apply it to the efforts of the Federal government's vaccination efforts. Use examples from the textbook from elder care, care for adolescents and children and especially Chapter 11 on Public health policy to support your answer. Once again, feel free to use the CDC, news about the government, state, etc. to support your answer.
