Patient: Mr. Stevenson is a 68-year-old retired teacher. He has been diagnosed with an intestinal disorder. He complains of cramping and diarrhea. He has been losing weight because of the malabsorption. Currently, he is 6'0" and 160 pounds. However, he was at his usual body weight of 202 pounds one month ago. 1. A. Calculate the patient's, IBW, % UBW and % IBW Show your calculations. Simply writing the answers will receive no credit. For IBW use the Hamwi equation as described in the lecture notes. He is not at risk for aspiration, he will be discharged from the hospital with the feeding tube and he will likely be on the feeding tube for months (long term).
