1. We have sampled three different aquatic communities to try to determine how many species are present. The data below includes how many individuals of each species we observed in each of these communities. Based on these data, we want to try to get an estimate of how many total species there are in each community (including those we were unable to observe in our sample). Species Wood frogs Green frogs Newts Spotted salamanders Ramshorn snails Pond snails Amphipods Isopods Fingernail clams Diving beetles Water boatmen Dragonflies Problem Set #6 Community A 32 45 12 15 2 25 2 1 9 1 5 1 Community B 65 24 14 17 23 14 14 1 Community C 42 45 5 12 67 35 2 2 0 0 0 0 13 15 a. Estimate the true number of species that are present in each of these communities. 0
