FROM THE TEXT
"Berscheid and Hatfield define romantic love in
terms of intense physiological arousal and cog.
nitive appraisal of that arousal as love. Cultural
belief in romantic love contributes to that
labeling of arousal. Hendrick and Hendrick
suggest that there are six styles of love among
college students: romantic love, game-playing
love, friendship, logical love, possessive love,
and selfless love. Sternberg suggests that there
are three distinct components of love: intimacy,
passion, and commitment. Romantic love is
characterized by the combination of passion
and intimacy. Consummate love--the cultural
ideal-is described by all three components."
