Equipment like the one shown in Figure 2.1 is used to measurethe viscosity of fluids. The system shown has the followingdimensions:H = 0.3 m (the fluid has a density of 920 kg/m3)
L = 0.2 m
D = 0.002 m (internal spacing of rectangular profilecapillary)
IMPORTANT: Consider that the capillary is much wider than it ishigh, D is the spacing between the top and bottom plates. Given theabove, consider negligible the area they provide and the effectthat the laterals have on the behavior of the fluid.
Fluid is allowed to run in the equipment in such a way that avolume is measured in a given time, with this it is possible toknow the speed at which the fluid flows and calculate itsviscosity. The upper part of the equipment is wide enough toconsider H constant.
In the equipment described above, a fluid is allowed to flow insuch a way that a velocity of 0.6 m/s is measured at the center ofthe capillary.
