(6) (a) State six (6) advantages of using PLC systems over hardwire systems. (3 marks) (b) Design a simple PLC ladder logic program to control a pedestrian crossing on a single rond with two lanes of traffic flowing in both directions. Allow for a pedestrian press switch on both sides of the road indicating intent to cross. Also, allow for reasonable times after pedestrian switch is pressed for traffic to stop (20 sec.) and also for crossing time (40 sec.). Finally, if crossing cycle was just concluded and switches are pressed again within in a 1 minutes window, allow for 3 minutes traffic flow cycle before next stop for pedestrian crossing. (12 marks)
