It is required to size a grid-connected north-facing PV system for Lusaka to deliver 3500 kWh/yr using 150-W (DC-STC) BP 2150S modules. Lusaka is estimated to have 5 h/day of peak-sun. Determine (i) the ac-rated power of the PV/inverter system; [25 marks] (ii) the temperature derating, if the modules have an NOCT of 45°C, the maximum power drops by 0.35 % / °C, and the average annual daily ambient temperature is 28°C. [25 marks] (iii) the DC, STC rated power of the modules, if the following assumptions are applied: losses of 3% due to dirt, 3% due to mismatched modules, and a 90% efficient inverter; [25 marks] (iv) the area of PVs required, if the modules are 12% efficient. [15 marks] (v) the total the cost of the system, if the installed system cost is K100/WDC. STC- [10 marks]
