Nitrogen in a piston-cylinder device undergoes a few processes.Initially the nitrogen at 300 liter will undergo a compressionprocess while maintaining its temperature. Then, with n= 1.56 thenitrogen will be cooled until twice of the volume, P=2.3bar andT=370˚C. Later, nitrogen will undergo isentropic expansion with 75kJ/kg of work. Next, the nitrogen will be cooled with process n=0until volume becomes 2.5 sizes smaller than before. After that, while maintaining the volume which is 75 liter, the nitrogen willbe heated until 6 bar. Finally nitrogen will undergo a polytropicprocess to the initial state.
(a) Sketch the cycle on a P–V diagram.
(b) Measure the mass of nitrogen in the piston-cylinderdevice
(c) Calculate all P’s, V’s, and T’s.
(d) Calculate the heat transfer for all processes, in kJ.
(e) Evaluate the nett work for the cycle, in kJ.
