hi. please answer all, especially part c and d. Thanks!
You have discovered a new species of animal, and study the effect of external ion concentrations on the resting potential of nerve cells from this animal. The table below indicates the concentrations inside and outside the cells of a few key ions in 2 different solutions: Intracellular Extracellular 2 65mM 3250MM Na+ 6.5mM Extracellular 1 650mM 32.5mM K+ 325mM For reference, the Nernst equation Ex= 60/z log10 ([X1]/[X2]) a) What is the Nernst potential for each ion in solution 1? (5 pts) b) What is the Nernst potential for each ion in solution 2? (5 pts) c) You measure a cell's resting potential in solution 1, and find that it is +72.5mV (inside with respect to outside). What is the relative conductance of the cell for Na* and K*? (give a number, a fraction is ok but be clear which ion has greater conductance) (5 pts) d) What would the cell's resting potential be in extracellular solution 2? (5 pts)
