1. For the following example calculate with explanation
the:
(i) Total impedance Z of the circuit in polar and rectangular
forms,
(ii) Circuit phase angle and qualify it
(iii) Circuit power factor
(iv) Total circuit current
(v) Current through the capacitor
(vi) Inductive reactance
(vii) Current through the inductor
(viii) Phasor diagram for Z
(ix) Circuit phase angle from the impedance phasor diagram. Does it
appear
leading or lagging to you?
(x) Active component of circuit current
(xi) Reactive component of the circuit current
(xii) Circuit admittance
(xiii) Capacitive susceptance
(xiv) The product of (xii) and the applied voltage.
(xv) How does the result in (civ) compare to (iv)?
A single-phase AC voltage V = 230 cos(wt), 50 Hz is connected to a
load
consisting of a resistor of 200 ohms, a 0.8913-H inductor and
a 20-μF capacitor. The
capacitor is connected directly across the voltage source. The
series combination
of the resistor and the inductor is then also connected across the
voltage source.
