Mothballs are composed primarily of the hydrocarbon naphthalene(C10H8). When 1.189 g of naphthalene burns in a bomb calorimeter, the temperature rises from 25.880 ∘C to 31.819 ∘C.
a) Find ΔrU for the combustion of naphthalene. The heat capacityof the calorimeter, determined in separate experiment, is 5.112kJ∘C−1.
b) Find ΔrH for the combustion of naphthalene at 298K.
