dB dz 4. The source of atoms in a Stern-Gerlach experiment is from an oven of temperature T. The magnetic field has a gradient of b, where b = (in T/m). The length of the magnetic field region is 1. Upon exiting the field, the atoms travel a distance of d to reach the screen. Individual atoms have a mass of m. Bohr magneton is denoted as MB. Write out the expression of the separation of features on the screen. (Hint: The magnetic force exerted on the atom is F = Mpb. The kinetic energy of the atoms is temperature-dependent: K = {KT which provides the initial velocity for the atoms to travel through the magnetic field.)
