Steam at 3 bar and 320°C (State 1) is mixed with liquid water at 3 bar and 20°C (State 2) in a rigid and insulated mixing chamber. The mass flow rate of liquid water entering the chamber is 100 kg/min. A mixed stream of liquid water at 3 bar and 90°C (State 3) exits the chamber. (a) Determine the mass flow rate of steam entering the mixing chamber, in kg/min. (b) Show the mixing process on T-v diagram relative to the vapor dome and the appropriate lines of constant pressure for the three states. Label states and identify process directions with arrows. For water: Pcritical = 221 bar and Tcritical = 374°C.
