JWM Chemicals plans to produce fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) using two types of feedstocks, which are palm oil (PO) and
company target to produce FAME with the conversion, X, in the range 90 - 95%. The followings are the reaction condition to produce FAME: Transesterification reaction uses palm oil triglyceride (PO) as the feedstock. Assume PO triglyceride (A) as the limiting reactant, Where Cao = 2000 mmol/L; Cao = 3 Cao Reaction rate constant, k = 0.08 dm³/mol min (second order) Condition 1: Transterification reaction i) One CSTR ii) CSTR-PFR in series 1. Design each reactor system based on the condition 1 (single reactor system and series reactor system). Include the followings in the findings: - Schematic diagram of the reactor system
JWM Chemicals plans to produce fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) using two types of feedstocks, which are palm oil (PO) and fatty acids (FA) via catalytic reaction. Below are the assumptions made for the catalytic reaction: 1) The excess volume of one reactant used in the reaction force the reaction forwards, thus assume to follow irreversible process. 2) The order of the reaction and rate constant represent the overall nature of the process without considering the interaction rate of reactants on catalyst surface and formation of intermediates.
