1. Determine the mass of air that has entered the rigid tank if it has a volume of 0.75 m³ and initially contains air whose density is 1.18 kg/m³. The tank is connected to a high- pressure supply line through a valve. The valve is opened, and air is allowed to enter the tank until the density in the tank rises to 4.95 kg/m³. Ans. 2.83 kg 2. 2.21 kg/m³ is the flow rate of air entering a nozzle steadily and at 20 m/s and leaves at 0.762 kg/m³ and 150 m/s. If the inlet area of the nozzle is 60 cm², determine (a) the mass flow rate through the nozzle, and (b) the exit area of the nozzle. Ans. 0.265 kg/s, 23.2 cm²
