Open the excel file “DRG Table.” In it, you will find a listingof the MS-DRGs that you read about in Chapter 10. For this simpleanalysis, review the DRG table and answer the following questions.Assume a hospital adjusted payrate of $6,000. 1. Look at the tableand choose a DRG that has three severities listed. For Example:DRGs 11, 12 and 13 are all for Tracheostomy for Face, Mouth or NeckDiagnosis or Laryngectomy. However one is for without CC(comorbidity) or MCC (major comorbity), one is with CC and one iswith MCC. a. What DRG did you choose ? b. What is the per casepayment for this DRG ? * note you will have to use the adjustedpayrate and weight 2. Now choose the same principle diagnosis butwith a different severity. If you chose with CC, choose without CCor MCC, or with MCC instead. *Please annotate what DRG you chose a.What is the per case payment for this DRG ? b. Did the paymentincrease or decrease ? 3. Look at the per case payment AND thelength of stay for both DRGs. a. How did the per case payment andlength of stay change as diagnosis severity increased/decreased? 4.If our hospital’s adjusted payrate was $6,000. What DRG would yieldthe highest payment ?
