A OH B H OH H You have discovered a new life form that performs most of the translation and gene expression functions in the same ways as our friend E. coli. You notice, however that there is no RF1, RF2 or RF3 (release factors) in their genome. Curiously, you also see that there are tRNAs transcribed that possess an anticodon to each of the STOP codons, which do not exist in any other organism. Lastly, you show that all of the polypeptides in these cells end not with the typical amino acid carboxyl group as shown in Panel A, rather they possess a terminus shown in Panel B. What is the mechanism of translation termination in these cells?
